Album Mode – LP2

Welcome to the Grander blog. A place I’m sure many of you will never find, but we’ll use it as a dumping ground for thoughts around our band anyway.

Despite our outward appearance of inactivity, Matt and I have been working very hard on our second full-length album. As it stands, we have a pool of 12 songs that we’re shaping into LP2. Some of these tracks date back to our inception as a band and others have come to life in recent months. It’s a tangled collection of ideas that somehow retain a sense of singularity. We are very excited to finish this batch of tracks and share them with the world.

Matt and I are working on this record remotely from our respective home studios. Matt is bringing guitar, synth and vocal work from Charlotte, NC, while I am tracking drums, guitar and vocals in Long Hill, NJ. It’s a different workflow for us. For years, we worked in tandem in our studio/living room/kitchen in Hoboken, NJ. When we had ideas, we could build on them collaboratively whenever we wanted.

Things look different now. Matt is recently married, and I’m a new dad. I think the difference in life is making positive contributions to our music. We are coming at it with more intention and purpose. We are also pushing each other harder than we ever have before.

Next, we’ll start to bring in the rest of the bunch to flesh out the tracks. I am going to try to stop saying “soon” when describing when our music will come out. You’ll get it when it’s finished. And hopefully that doesn’t take us too much longer.
